Elena of Perfume Shrine has tagged me, so here are my answers (though a part of me wonders if this brief flash of narcissism does not impede the progress of man by contributing useless information, but I comfort myself that my so-called contribution are far too minor to matter in that regard).
2. Post the rules on your blog 3. Write six random things about yourself 4. Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them 5. Let each person know they've been tagged and leave a comment on their blog 6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up. #1 I am terrified of revolving doors. #2 You may well be surprised should you ever meet me in the flesh, after experiencing such open, strong opinions in my writing to find that I tend to be cold and withdrawn, even taciturn, most of the time. I have no gift for smalltalk, I only talk when I have something to say, and then in fully-formed paragraphs, which some people think is very disconcerting. #3 I always expected to go to my deathbed with a dozen languages (I've only made it to six thus far) and a couple PhDs to my credit, but I got fed up with the Ivies and now I work at Anthropologie for a mere pittance. Let's just say, after that feast of egomaniacal paranoia, it's self-enforced humility. Plus, I suspect that erudition might ruin me for other things in life. #4 I play video games, including World of Warcraft. It's how I bond with my little brother. #5 Believe it or not, I don't wear much in the way of makeup: undereye concealer, tightlining & mascara, pink blush, and very often strong (often red) lips. If I venture into eyeshadow, it's almost always just a light, soft wash. I cut my own hair, pluck my underarms (ew, I know, thanks for sharing!), and never have had a manicure or a pedicure. #6 Here's my idea of a perfect day: wake up late in a city where I've never been, smoke a cigarette with my morning coffee, dress in comfortable but stylish layers, take an eighth of shrooms, and go to the art museum.
Gaia, @ The Non-Blonde, for her low bullshit threshold, g'bless'her! Ara @ Jargol, who writes an excellent blog on indie fashion as well as a guide to great stores all around the world—an invaluable resource! Ambregris writes an excellent blog about perfume, but may not be as well-known to you as some other perfume blogs because it's all in French, but it also means that there's plenty of scoop on Paris exclusives and pre-releases well ahead of American bloggers. Faire Frou Frou a Los-Angeles based lingerie boutique that carries some of the more obscure lines (like my own favorite, Carine Gilson), also writes a blog with plenty of details, lingerie photography, and historical information. Heather @ Memory & Desire combines provocative images and poetry with her musings on perfume. Labels: to the reader 10/15/2008 [5] |
